Getting quantitative local structural information for molecules on surfaces

Introduction
How do simple molecules like CO bond to surfaces, and what is the relationship between bond strength, bond order and bond length? How do more complex small molecules like amino acids and nucleobases bond to surfaces? Some of the answers, and the methods used to obtain these answers, will be described.
