The Meeting will gather from 11-00am with coffee, tea & biscuits served in the Library. Stephen Gay鈥檚 illustrated talk "Woodhead - The Lost Railway" will begin at 12 noon.
Stephen as a former employee on this route gives an intriguing insight into the demise of a thriving community rail route despite having a new dual track tunnel for full electrification and the shortest route between Sheffield & Manchester it fell prey to the political battle between the new emerging motorways & railways overseen by ICI鈥檚 Dr Beeching.
The talk will be followed by a bespoke Wortley Hall Buffet Lunch at 1-30pm served in the Library.
For those attendees wishing to balance food and exercise, a post-meal garden walk is their optional choice.
Bookings close on Tuesday 7th April 2020 & are limited to 2 attendees per member. A total limit of 40 attendees will be based on a first come first served basis.
