The Materials Chemistry Community is proud to bring together outstanding PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, and early-career scientists working in industry for the eighth Materials chemistry poster symposium. The Materials chemistry poster symposium is the flagship event for the Materials Chemistry Community that is aimed specifically at early career scientists in materials chemistry.聽

The Materials chemistry poster symposium provides a fantastic opportunity to:聽聽

This is a rare opportunity to gain this experience in an event dedicated to you, as an early career scientist working in the field of materials chemistry.聽

On the day, our judges will recognise the two best posters, who will win free registration to the 18th International conference on materials chemistry (MC18) in Cardiff in 2027. Additional prizes will also be available on the day.聽

The Materials chemistry poster symposium is free to attend for successful applicants.

To be eligible to attend the Materials chemistry poster symposium, you must be presenting a poster or have received an invitation to attend.聽

To be eligible to present a poster at this event, you must be:聽

  • A PhD student, post-doctoral researcher, or a researcher working in industry with equivalent experience.聽
  • Presenting a poster on work within the field of [field] in its broadest sense.聽
  • Based in the UK or Ireland.聽聽
  • Selected by the Scientific Organising Committee.聽

Successful applicants will聽be contacted聽within 4-6 weeks of the abstract closing date.聽

Career consultations

Qualified career and professional development advisers for the 番茄社区 of Chemistry will be available for free, confidential, one-to-one, consultations on any aspect of your career.

Each consultation will last 15 minutes. Examples of topics you may wish to discuss include:

  • Exploring your next career step
  • CV review and feedback
  • Job-searching strategies.聽

Successful applicants who are 番茄社区 members may book consultation slots during registration. Successful non鈥憁ember applicants may book any remaining slots during the event on a first鈥慶ome, first鈥憇erved basis.

Career discussion panel

Join our career discussion panel to hear from invited speakers representing a variety of career routes across industry, academia, and related sectors. Panellists will share short reflections on their career paths and the lessons they鈥檝e learned along the way. The session will finish with an interactive Q&A led by a member of the 番茄社区 Careers team, giving you the opportunity to ask your own questions.

Presenters

鈥婤ursaries will be available to poster presenters to support their attendance at the meeting. Only expenses that enable participation at the poster symposium are eligible for the contribution. Further details of the scheme and how to apply for support will be provided to successful applicants with the registration information.

Grants for carers聽

With our Grants for carers, you can apply for up to 拢1,200 per year to help you attend a chemistry-related meeting, conference or workshop or a professional development event. This money would be used to cover any additional costs you incur, paying for care that you usually provide.聽聽Please visit the website for further information and eligibility criteria.聽

Accessibility grants聽

With our Accessibility grants, you can apply for up to 拢1,200 per year to help with the cost of specific support to attend a chemistry-related meeting, conference, workshop, or professional development event. This support might be any form of equipment, service, or other personal expense associated with meeting your access needs.聽
