Assessment procedure
Applications received within the application rounds will be assessed by the Technician Travel and Training Grant Working Group who have oversight of the entire grant scheme.  The Group will aim to let applicants know the outcome within four weeks of a complete application being submitted. Applicants are encouraged to make sure that they apply in plenty of time to allow for assessment and, if successful, transfer of funds in advance of needing to make bookings.
The Group will consider each application against the following criteria:
- The activity proposed presents a credible opportunity to support the career or professional development of the applicant
- The activity proposed presents an opportunity for the development or extension of the applicant’s current competencies
- It appears that there could be a reasonable opportunity for the applicant to apply their newly developed skills or competencies on their return to their usual place of work
- The timing of the proposed activity appears to present a reasonable opportunity to complete the proposed activity
In the event that there are more applications than available budget, funding will be allocated at random.
After the event
Successful applicants will be required to submit a short report within four weeks of the activity taking place. This should include reflection on how the event has supported the applicant’s professional development and a summary of expenses. Guidance will be provided for this.
