Biography

Christine Vanhoof is a senior researcher at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) in Belgium, focusing on inorganic analysis. She earned her degree as an Industrial Engineer in Chemistry, specialising in Biochemistry, in 1986. With over 30 years of experience, she has developed and applied analytical strategies for measuring inorganic elements across various matrices. For more than 25 years, she has led the X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) group at VITO. She actively coordinates and develops research projects at the Flemish, Federal and European level. Since 2004, she has been a Belgian expert in environmental-related Technical Committees of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) (e.g., CEN/TC 444, CEN/TC 223), contributing to the development and validation of EN ISO standard procedures. Additionally, she has contributed to the Atomic Spectrometry Updates (ASU) reviews since 2005, focusing on advancements in X-ray fluorescence spectrometry and its specialised applications.
