Biography
Xin Hong is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Zhejiang University. He received his Ph.D. from UCLA in 2014 under the supervision of Prof. K. N. Houk, and conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University with Prof. Jens K. Nørskov.
His research focuses on understanding reaction mechanisms and structure–performance relationships in molecular synthesis, with a particular interest in integrating mechanistic insight with data-driven modeling. His group has developed chemically interpretable molecular graph models and transfer learning approaches to address small-data challenges in synthetic chemistry, with practical applications including enantioselective cross-coupling and C-H activation. His work provides valuable references for the digital and intelligent transformation of organic chemistry.
